This Privacy Policy explains how Eduters collects, uses, stores, and discloses personal information when you use the Eduters website at www.eduters.com and the Eduters learning portal (together, Eduters). We handle personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.

By using Eduters you agree to our handling of personal information as described here and in our Terms of Use.

Information we collect

We collect only what we need to run Eduters. Depending on how you use it, this may include:

  • Launch list details: the email address you give us when you join the launch list.
  • Account details: your name or display name, email address, and the sign-in details provided by the sign-in service you choose.
  • Learner details: a learner's display name, year or level, and profile preferences, entered by the learner or by their parent, guardian, or teacher.
  • Learning activity: the bundles a learner opens, their answers, drawings, scores, time spent, saved and submitted sessions, and progress statistics.
  • Publisher details: contact details and the bundles, pictures, audio, and other material a publisher submits.
  • Support messages: anything you tell us when you email us.
  • Technical information: device and browser type, IP address, pages visited, error reports, and similar information collected automatically to keep Eduters secure and working.

We do not ask for more information about a child than is needed for them to use Eduters, and we do not sell personal information.

How we collect it

We collect personal information directly from you when you join the launch list, create or update an account, play bundles, submit bundles, or contact us. For child learners, we usually collect it from the parent, guardian, or teacher who sets up their access. Technical information is collected automatically by our systems and service providers.

Children's privacy

Eduters is built for school-aged learners, so we take particular care with children's information.

  • A parent or guardian should create and manage the account of any learner under 18.
  • We use a child's information only to provide Eduters to them and to show their progress to them and their parent, guardian, or teacher.
  • We do not show advertising to children or use their information for marketing.
  • A parent or guardian can ask to access, correct, or delete their child's information at any time by emailing support@eduter.com.

How we use personal information

We use personal information to:

  • provide Eduters, including accounts, bundles, scoring, results, and progress statistics
  • let parents and teachers follow the progress of learners they support
  • review, publish, and credit bundles submitted by publishers
  • tell launch list members when Eduters opens and about important changes
  • respond to questions and support requests
  • keep Eduters secure, prevent misuse, and fix problems
  • understand how Eduters is used so we can improve it
  • meet our legal obligations

You can unsubscribe from launch list and update emails at any time using the link in the email or by contacting us.

Disclosure

We may share personal information with:

  • service providers who host Eduters, store data, send email, provide sign-in, or monitor performance and errors for us, under obligations to protect it
  • parents, guardians, and teachers of a learner, who can see that learner's activity and progress
  • publishers, who may receive feedback about their questions, but not the identity of the learner who reported it
  • authorities or others where the law requires or permits it

Some of our service providers may store or process information outside Australia, including in the United States and other countries where cloud services operate. Where this happens, we take reasonable steps to make sure the information is handled consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles.

Storage and security

We store personal information with reputable cloud providers and protect it with access controls, encrypted connections, and other reasonable safeguards. No system is completely secure, so please keep your sign-in details private and tell us straight away if you think your account has been compromised.

We keep personal information only for as long as we need it to provide Eduters or to meet legal obligations. When it is no longer needed, we delete or de-identify it.

Cookies

Eduters uses cookies and similar technologies that are needed to sign you in, keep you signed in, and remember your preferences. Our hosting and monitoring services may also collect technical information to measure performance and diagnose errors. You can block cookies in your browser, but parts of Eduters may not work without them.

Access, correction, and deletion

You can ask to access or correct the personal information we hold about you, or about a child in your care, or ask us to delete it. Email support@eduter.com. We may need to confirm your identity first, and we will respond within a reasonable time, usually 30 days.

Complaints

If you have a concern about how we have handled personal information, please email support@eduter.com and we will look into it. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at www.oaic.gov.au.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time by publishing a revised version on this page. The revised policy applies from the date shown at the top.
